The Confessional Heart Of A Man by The Greatest Poet Alive aka Marc Livingston is more like reading the story of a man’s life, than a poetry book, although the stories are shared in a poetic format. Gpa takes you through a variety of stages of his life. On this journey I experienced his thoughts and feelings around love, life, relationships, heartache, betrayal, infidelity, desires, and issues around skin color, mental boundaries and physical confinement. Many of his pieces are straight forward, being able to understand the topic immediately, while others, due to his choice of format or the use of metaphors forced me to think and reflect over the words and the possible meaning behind them.

The interesting thing for me in experiencing the writings of this man, this poet…I feel he reveals so much of himself, how he thinks and views life. Causing me to desire to have a better insight into his personal story…which I am sure I would then take on a different interpretation of his rhythmic form of self expression. In the years I have been involved with poets and writers, I have come to realize that writing is a form of purging from their souls but through this, finding a sense of solace. I sense this is the case for Gpa.

I recommend this book to all that appreciate reading of life’s ups and downs through a poetic form of storytelling. I strongly believe that many will be able to relate to his poems or at least understand and appreciate the thoughts and feelings behind them. I look forward to future publications written by this poet and great storyteller.
